Gender Integration

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations are directed at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and reducing inequalities. In 2015 world leaders adopted the 17 SDGs and remain committed to reaching set targets by 2030. Ensure Impact partners with mission-based organizations to support gender integration initiatives with a commitment to uphold SDG Goal #5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

We incorporate lived-experience stories to strengthen strategies aimed at better understanding and addressing the underlying diverse needs of women and girls in various contexts. Targeted gender equality approaches are aimed at promoting fairness, closing existing gender gaps, and eliminating discrimination in practice and programming.

Partnering with mission-driven organizations, Ensure Impact is committed to furthering gender equality work by helping strengthen various gender integration strategies. Through the power of storytelling, we assist with story gathering and strategic sharing to help identify gender related barriers, restrictive gender norms, and opportunities for equitable interventions. At Ensure Impact we are committed to several best practices that are foundational to our gender integration work:

· Multi-Stakeholder Approach: We include and engage voices from different genders, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds to capture diverse perspectives and lived experiences.

· Intersectional Analysis: We consider how factors such as ethnicity, disability, and socio-economic or social status intersect with gender to shape access and outcomes.

· Multi-Component Approach: We help inform multiple, interrelated strategies to address gender inequality, such as capacity building, policy. advocacy, community engagement, and service delivery.

· Ensure Cultural Sensitivity & Trauma-Informed Practices: We ensure our data collection tools and language respects local customs and avoids reinforcing gender stereotypes or retraumatizing lived-experience contributors (LECs).

· Translating Findings into Action: We help clearly link findings and stories to practical, gender-responsive and transformative actions for integration into practice or program design, implementation, and monitoring.
